DESCRIPTION:61 minutes\n\nAutumn lives in a perilous world\, and yet thi
s beautiful\, precocious child navigates her reality with enviable skill
 s. Raised by her thirty nine year old morbidly obese diabetic grandmothe
r\, Rose\, while her own mother\, nineteen year old Nette\, remains inca
rcerated awaiting trial\, Autumn understands far more than a child her a
ge should about a life of poverty\, stress and uncertainty.\nComplicated
relationships define this family struggling for survival. This is a fem
ale dominated world in which harsh lessons about birth\, sex and drugs a
lternate with visits to the prison where Nette is held. The mother daugh
ter bond is apparent\, even in the sterile courtroom and prison environm
ent.\n\nAs Rose's health declines\, the already fragile family structure
seems about to unravel. And yet Autumn exhibits remarkable resilience a
nd has much to teach the rest of us.\n\nMeticulously shot and edited\, w
ith a score that illuminates the action\, life through the eyes of Autum
n is an unforgettable experience. This is an intimate\, unflinching acco
unt of a family facing adversity with courage and determination. (Barbar
 a Pokras\, A.C.E.)\n\nSee details online at http://www.woodstockfilmfest

DESCRIPTION:89 minutes\n\nWhen you hear the names Oxford and Cambridge\,
fist fights are probably not the first things that come to mind. Direct
or Stevan Riley is out to prove that wrong with his exhilarating new doc
 umentary Blue Blood\, a fierce\, sweat-soaked ode to the importance of s
ettling differences with a good old physical bout. The annual boxing tou
rnament is a long standing tradition between Oxford and Cambridge. This
year\, Riley will follow each \"blue blood\" (Oxford participant) as the
y tryout\, make weight\, train and spar\, all working towards that fatef
ul night when they will be left alone in the ring with nothing but their
gloves\, their wits and their opponent. Featuring a greatest hits sound
track and enough bravado to make even the most serene viewer stand up an

a film for anyone who loves the sport or just loves celebrating life. (M

DESCRIPTION:107 minutes\n\nFrom Larry Fessenden comes this chilling look
at the consequences of our selfish destruction of the environment. When
a group from an oil drilling company take a trip to the Alaskan tundra
there is an ominous cast over the proceedings from the very beginning. D
espite the warnings of the onsite environmentalist and the growing madne
ss of the young newbie\, the rest of the team isn't bothered until they
begin to suffer mysterious deaths one by one. This perfect double featur
 e to \"Crude Awakening\" is a subtle and sophisticated horror film that\
, rather than rely on monsters or serial killers\, question whether Moth
er Nature herself has the power to rise up against us. With a beautifull
y desolate Icelandic landscape\, tight performances\, and masterfully cr

otivates his client.\nThough Mike says of Dunkleman\, \"In an ideal worl

between the two. Despite his thorough indoctrination as a skinhead\, Mik

DESCRIPTION:124 minutes\n\nIt is no surprise that this film has been com
pared to Bergman- Jeff Lipsky's truthful and stunning dialogue and intim

essly following one couple's descent from the giddy high of new love int
o the inevitable mire of everyday routine\, \"Flannel Pajamas\" is that
rare film that dares to feature characters as endearing and messy as tho
se that inhabit our real lives.\nOn a rainy night\, two 30-something New
Yorkers meet for a blind date at a local diner. It's a magical evening
with that so-elusive combination of great chemistry and instant connecti
on. Stuart (Justin Kirk) is a study in contrasts - seemingly confident\,
with a high-powered Broadway job\, yet clearly lonely and desperately e
ager for love. Younger and still finding her way\, Nicole (Julianne Nich
olson) is naturally more reticent\, coping with city life far from her l
arge and eccentric Montana family.\n\nAs their relationship progresses i
nto marriage\, we see a film about hope in the face of failure\, about s

DESCRIPTION:55 minutes\n\nThe remarkable lives of radical surrealist les
bian half sisters and lovers Claude Cahun\, (Lucy Schoob 1894-1954) and
Marcel Moore\, (Suzanne Malherbe\, 1892-1972) are told with great intima
cy and understanding by experimental filmmaker/ archivist and lesbian hi
storian Barbara Hammer.\nThe sisters\, active in the surrealist movement
in Paris in the 20's and 30's\, moved to the Isle of Jersey off the coa
st of England in 1935. There they continued their collaborations in phot
omontage and are remembered by residents\, one of whom comments\, \"Perh
aps islands collect eccentric people.\"\n\nNo mere eccentrics\, these we
re brilliant artists unwilling to compromise their authenticity \, alway
s challenging the notion that identity is fixed and immutable. Alternate
ly playful\, tender and argumentative\, they never waiver from their con
victions. As Resistors to the German occupation of their Island\, they a
re surrealists to the core.\n\nCombining a treasure trove of archival fo
otage and photomontage with interviews and seamless reenactments\, this
is surrealism from the inside out\, a film about art and an art film\; a
nd a story of courage and conviction. (Barbara Pokras\, A.C.E.)\n

DESCRIPTION:95 minutes\n\nThis comedy-drama follows three thirty-somethi
ng friends as they hit the road to try and forget how badly their lives
have turned out. Each character had big expectations coming out of high
school but each has stumbled as he approaches middle-age. Their beer-lad
en road trip takes one funny wrong turn after another until they finally
begin winding their way back home. The clever script (written by Brian
Currie and D. B. Sweeney) continually turns conventions upside down and
will keep the audience guessing until the end. This look inside the male
psyche is both hilarious and moving and places the film in the top tier
of road-trip movies. John C. McGinley\, Paul Hipp and D. B. Sweeney pla

DESCRIPTION:84 minutes\n\nThe world runs on oil\, a nonrenewable\, finit
e energy source\, and \"The Oil Crash\" is coming. What will happen when
the world runs out of fossil fuel? That's the question posed by brillia
nt documentarians Basil Gelpke and Ray McCormack in this meticulously dr
awn epithet for the end of \"The Oil Era.\"\nCombining scenarios for a f
uture without oil\, interviews with a variety of experts and a chronolog
y of our romance with \"black gold\,\" this film not only serves as a co
mprehensive history of oil on the planet\, but also as a cautionary tale
of how we are dooming ourselves by carelessly burning through this prec
ious resource.\n\nOil is present in ninety percent of the products we us
e in our daily lives. Will the end of \"The Oil Era\" see us returning t
o a simpler society\, similar to the ways of the Amish? This is one of t
he possibilities explored in this shockingly revealing documentary about
how our life of convenience is destroying the world we live in and thre
atening future generations. (Michael Lerman)\n\nSee it online at http://

the French Nouvelle Vague\, stands alone among American films in its med

(1954)\, a film about the fear of matrimonial commitment\, and \"The Ma
n Who Knew Too Much\" (1956) a film about the dreaded loss of intimacy i

e plots to go back into the past\, just one more time (\"Vertigo!\") to
retrieve the luscious Madeleine\, the \"lost\" love of his life\, played

DESCRIPTION:97 minutes\n\nCarter is an introverted auto mechanic who spe
nds his days repairing Swedish cars. At night he quietly follows a beaut
iful violinist around Charlottesville\, Virginia\, often stopping outsid
e of her house to listen as her music floats out an open window. Carter
has no friends other the kindly owner of the garage in which he works an
d the owner's son. His routine continues day after day until he realizes
that he is not the only one following someone. Darla\, the pretty young
woman who serves him lunch everyday in the local diner\, has been follo
wing him most evenings. Their slow\, strange dance toward romance is at
the heart of this quiet\, lyrical film. These two damaged people slowly
begin to open up to each other and begin to learn a new way to live.\nWr
iter/Director Derek Sieg has created a lovely film featuring two pitch p

of credit - know of someone in debt or the stress that accompanies makin

\"Maxed Out\" provides a timely and much needed dose of reality\, explo

olden Age tango orchestras of Buenos Aires in the 40s & early 50s.\n\nTh
ey can't do it from old recordings and charts alone. They want to start
a tango orchestra school but they need the Ôold guard' - the true tango
maestros- to lead them\, to transmit and pass on the teachings\, before
the aging musical icons pass on.\n\nThe young musicians (who went on to

ome of the stars in this rocking\, rolling\, pulsating-with-energy docum
entary\, it's the purest art form\, one with absolutely no desire for mo
netary gain. With sincere passions and tongue-in-cheek humor\, this film
shows that this honored pastime is also just a damn good time. The film
incorporates interviews with the rockers about technique\, pyrotechnics
\, and the many walks of life from which they hail\, but the core of \"A
ir Guitar Nation\" is the performances\, the gut-busting documentation o
f America embracing with fervor\, scissor kicks\, and mind blowing facia
l contortions a competition long dominated by European artists. Specific
ally\, the film follows the battle between the Hello Kitty breast plate
donning C-Diddy and underdog Bjorn Turoque from regional competitions to
the climactic international finals in Oulu\, Finland. If you are the pr
oud owner of an air guitar\, we encourage that you bring it with you. (F

DESCRIPTION:97 minutes\n\nThis rare documentary examines three cases in
a Pennsylvania mediation program that brings the victims of violent crim
es together with their perpetrators. The filmmaker\, Rachel Libert\, had
complete access to the program and was able to film the participants be
fore\, during and after the mediation sessions. This access allows a tre
mendous sense of immediacy with the participants. Each of the three case
s will sear itself into the viewer's mind. The pain of each victim (a wo
man who was raped\, the mother of a murdered son\, and the daughter of a
murdered mother) is matched by the guilt and remorse of the perpetrator
 s. Everyone involved strives for closure. All three cases take place man
y years after the crimes occurred. Once the mediations begin all of the
buried\, painful feelings quickly re-emerge. The results of each mediati

the French Nouvelle Vague\, stands alone among American films in its med

detective in pursuit of a criminal fails to make the leap across a roof
-top\, he finds himself hanging by his fingertips from the ledge\, stari

by the incomparable James Stewart\, develops a case of \"vertigo\,\" loo
sely defined in his film as a fear of heights\, metaphorically illustrat
ed as a fear of the heights of passion. Made as the third part of a loos

(1954)\, a film about the fear of matrimonial commitment\, and \"The Ma

eird\, wonderful world of live-action role playing. Documentary filmmake
rs Andrew Neel & Luke Meyer follow the members of Darkon as they engage
in full contact battles complete with padded armor for imaginary hexes o
f land\, center of their very real pride and joy. For many of its member
s\, Darkon is a metaphor for the heroes they wish to be in their home li

The results of each mediati
on will surprise the viewer. This moving film provides an amazing insigh
t into the ability of people to endure and into the nature of human forg

there is an ominous cast over the proceedings from the very beginning. D

DESCRIPTION:104 minutes\n\nIn the spring of 1931 nine black hoboes were
pulled off an Alabama freight train and arrested for allegedly raping tw
o young white women in a gondola car. Ranging in ages from twelve to twe
nty years\, they were quickly tried and sentenced to the electric chair.
News of their convictions spread and the plight of the Scottsboro Boys
became a 'cause celebre' that fueled the fire of socialism worldwide\, f
orcing an appeal to the United States Supreme Court and resulting in new
trials for all nine defendants. New Yorker Samuel Leibowitz\, a savvy a
nd self-assured defense lawyer with an impressive string of courtroom vi
ctories\, agreed to represent the accused at their retrials in Decatur\,
Alabama. His journey into the Deep South symbolized the polarity of the
times and set in motion a legal battle that ultimately changed the cour
se of American jurisprudence.\n\nSee details online at http://www.woodst

DESCRIPTION:93 minutes\n\n\"Shut Up And Sing\" travels with the Dixie Ch
icks\, from the peak of their popularity as the national-anthem-singing
darlings of country music and top-selling female recording artists of al
l time\, through the now infamous anti-Bush comment made by the group's
lead singer Natalie Maines in 2003. The film follows the lives and caree
rs of the Dixie Chicks over a period of three years during which they we
re under political attack and received death threats\, while continuing
to live their lives\, have children\, and of course make music. The film
ultimately presents who the Dixie Chicks are as women\, public figures\
 , and musicians.

ge Americans. Utilizing slick camera work\, powerful slow-motion and an
inspiring score\, Darkon puts you deep inside the world of its character

DESCRIPTION:124 minutes\n\nIt is no surprise that this film has been com
pared to Bergman- Jeff Lipsky's truthful and stunning dialogue and intim
ate settings make us empathize with the characters and situations. Fearl
essly following one couple's descent from the giddy high of new love int
o the inevitable mire of everyday routine\, \"Flannel Pajamas\" is that
rare film that dares to feature characters as endearing and messy as tho
se that inhabit our real lives.\nOn a rainy night\, two 30-something New
Yorkers meet for a blind date at a local diner. It's a magical evening
with that so-elusive combination of great chemistry and instant connecti
on. Stuart (Justin Kirk) is a study in contrasts - seemingly confident\,
with a high-powered Broadway job\, yet clearly lonely and desperately e
ager for love. Younger and still finding her way\, Nicole (Julianne Nich
olson) is naturally more reticent\, coping with city life far from her l
arge and eccentric Montana family.\n\nAs their relationship progresses i
nto marriage\, we see a film about hope in the face of failure\, about s
 econd chances\, cruelty\, egos run amok\, tenderness\, marriage\, and re
ligion.\n\nThis achingly romantic vision of love in a time of cynicism i
s sure to spark interesting conversation! (Sabine Hoffman)\n\nSee detail
